The co-partners of #CripTheVote, Andrew Pulrang, Gregg Beratan, and Alice Wong, invite you to a Twitter chat on the impact of the coronavirus on the 2020 elections.

How to Participate

Follow @GreggBeratan @AndrewPulrang & @DisVisibility. When it’s time for the chat, search #CripTheVote on Twitter for the series of live tweets under the ‘Latest’ tab for the full conversation.

If you might be overwhelmed by the amount of tweets and only want to see the chat’s questions so you can respond to them, check @DisVisibility’s account. The questions will be Tweeted approximately 5-6 minutes apart.

Q1. First of all, how are you doing? How are you dealing with the challenges of staying at home or going out, getting your needs met, and keeping safe especially if you are high risk and/or immunocompromised? #CripTheVote 

Q2.  What are your concerns about how the #Covid19 crisis will affect disabled people’s participation in #Election2020? #CripTheVote

Q3. Are you planning on voting? If so what method of voting do you prefer and is it accessible to you where you live? #CripTheVote

Q4. There have been a number of efforts across the country to expand mail in/absentee balloting even as the US Postal Service faces severe cutbacks. Are there reasons you feel in person voting must be kept available? #CripTheVote

Q5. Have you seen reason to be concerned about voter disenfranchisement & suppression particularly in communities of color? How has the #Covid19 crisis affected these efforts?” #CripTheVote

Q6. How has the the #Coronavirus reshaped #Election2020? Has it distracted us from the election or merely altered the issues we are focused on? Has it changed what the top issues are for you? #CripTheVote

The co-partners of #CripTheVote, Andrew Pulrang, Gregg Beratan, and Alice Wong, invite you to a Twitter chat on the coronavirus, health disparities, and the disability community with co-hosts Dustin Gibson and Anita Cameron.

Dustin is an abolitionist that creates he[art]work to address the nexus between race, class, and disability. He provides support in building peer support networks with people leaving institutions.

Anita is Director of Minority Outreach for Not Dead Yet. She has met with national and state policy makers and has written persuasively about opposition to a public policy of assisted suicide from the perspectives of communities of color who experience disparities in access to healthcare.

Q4 Fat, older, disabled, and sick people, especially if they are people of color, face higher risks of exposure to the coronavirus and less access to care. What changes do you want to see addressing this at the local, state, and federal level? #CripTheVote

Q5 How has the response to the coronavirus changed your access to food, medications, treatments, procedures, and medical supplies that impacted your health? Please share if you are comfortable. #CripTheVote

Q6 Sites of confinement, like nursing facilities, prisons/jails, “detention” centers, institutions, group “homes” and other congregate settings are experiencing rapid #COVID19 outbreaks and deaths. What kind of actions are needed to save lives? #CripTheVote
